By now you should have logged at least 40 dives and completed your Divemaster Weekend. From now on, you will be able to assist on courses and activities ready for your divemaster evaluation.
You will need to book ahead of the courses and activities you wish to assist on; as there are a limited number of spaces available. You will receive a combination of different activities to schedule (depending on the career path you have chosen), for example:
Once you have completed the required number of assists, we will have a record of your experience. This record is a requirement for divemaster certification.
Previously, you have been able to book activities (shore dives/boat dives) at your leisure and we hope you have enjoyed your dives. From now on, you will be there to assist our instructors and/or divemasters. You are expected to arrive at the dive centre to shadow and follow directions given to you by your mentors. You learn everything from preparing paperwork, equipment set up and logistics.
You are responsible for your equipment: tanks, weight belts, BCD, regs etc.
We would also advise you to contact the store the day before your course/activity to ensure the dives are going ahead (weather, bookings etc) and where possible, we will let you know ahead of schedule if they are cancelled (sometimes people cancel the day-of their activity - very frustrating) we apologise in advance if your assisting is cancelled at short notice.
Can't make it?
You must let us know before hand if you can't attend, we have many trainees waiting to get their experience and we have limited spaces available.
If you fail to attend, you will be waitlisted for any future assistant bookings and will be unable to book in advance.
